FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

I have a 3 year old. Should I be in Art Play or Mommy and Me?
It really depends on how independent your child is. Art Play is a drop-off class that lasts an hour and a half. Your child will be with 5 or 6 other children, ages 3-6. She will make a craft or paint a painting, have a snack, and play a game. Mommy and Me is a one-hour class, and you and your child will do the craft together (probably more than one!), sing a song, paint, glue, and glitter, and be artsy together.

My child has already taken Painting and Drawing. If I sign up again, will the projects be the same?
The answer is -- sometimes. We make every effort to accomodate returning students - and we have many! - so the teacher will try to vary the projects so there isn’t repetition. If the same project does show up again, the student can choose to do it again if they want to. We have found that children often like the familiarity of doing a project for the second time - it also makes a great gift! If they choose not to repeat the project, we can add another layer - extend the painting is this direction, add this touch to the craft.

What if I miss a class?
If you tell us in advance, we can pro-rate the session for you. Otherwise, you are always free to make up the class by dropping in on any other class offered that session. Make-ups do not run over into the next session, unless you register for the next session.

Is there a discount for siblings?
Yes, there is a 10% discount for the second child and 50% discount for the third child. In the Mommy and Me class only, there is a twins discount of full price for one, and 50% for one.

Can I try a class?
You and your child are always welcome to try a class, and pay for one class ($17). If you decide to take the class, you can then pay the remainder.

I have an opinion, a suggestion, a question or concern, a great idea. Who do I talk to?
You can always approach the teacher, but I would love to hear from parents. Please feel free to email me, Rachael Gardner, with any random thoughts you may have. My email is Rachael@ThePaintingWorkshop.com

How can I get involved with the programs at The Painting Workshop?
We always have back-burner projects that just need a volunteer or two to make them happen. These are community services that we would love to do - from volunteering in senior centers, to fundraising projects, and special events. Let us know if you have the time and interest, and would like to be involved. Again, email me at Rachael@ThePaintingWorkshop.com
