Weekly Art Camp for Ages 5-10

stamp16

We wait all year for art camp in the summer! It is held in both locations, Mt. Washington and Reisterstown, every week in June, July and August.

You can register for as many weeks as you like – paintings and projects will vary weekly.

Daily 9:00-1:00       $175/week
Daily 9:00-3:00       $245/week

The day begins with a painting project in the morning, based on either a particular artist - let's paint Starry Nights like Vincent Van Gogh! - or a concept, such as a still-life or a self-portrait. There are also craft projects - paper-maché, wood sculpture, sculpey clay, mosaics, collage, painted vases, bookmaking, etc. The day is interspersed with art games, recess, story time, and smaller crafts such as beads. The only thing you need to bring is enthusiasm and a nut-free lunch! The day is relaxed, creative, and fun!

2012 Specialty Camps

stamp16

Specialty art camps are in addition to our Weekly Art Camps held in the studio. (see above).

These camps are all held in the Yurt in our Mt. Washington location. The yurt is a beautiful, circular space, that we built last summer, behind the art studio. See our video about it on the home page! We are so excited to use it this summer for small art classes and camps!

Preschool Camp for ages 3-5

Teen Camp for ages 11 - 15

This weekly camp will give the students time and space to work on longer projects. This includes more in-depth painting projects, and crafts projects, such as mosaic tables, that can take several days to complete. Students have a chance to immerse themselves in a fun and inspiring studio experience. This camp will be held in our beautiful new yurt in Mt. Washington!

Art and Yoga Camp for ages 5 - 10

Taught by Rachael Gardner, Director of The Painting Workshop, this camp will incorporate yoga and art together as a theme. Start the day with some stretching and centering on our yoga mats, and then move on to some art projects. Sometimes the yoga theme will overlap with the art project - stand in Mountain Pose, paint mountains, try Half-Moon Pose, paint Starry Night by Van Gogh! A great mix of movement and creative time.

Art and Yoga Camp will be held the following week, 9:00-3:00:
July 2 - July 6
Cost: $245/week

Dragons and Wild Things Camp for ages 5 - 10

Who doesn't love dragons? We will look to the art of Asia for inspiration, as well as Dragons in medieval times, and then closer to home with Maurice Sendak and his book, Where the Wild Things Are. Projects may include sculpture, puppets, jewelry, paintings, and more.

Dragons/Wild Things Camp will be held the following week, 9:00-3:00:
June 18 - June 22
Cost: $245/week

Wizards and Fairies Camp for ages 5 - 10

We reach back to our oldest tales and fairytales to find inspiration for this magical camp, full of fairies and wizards. Use your imagination to create a fantastical world! Explore that world through painting, drawing, crafts, puppetry, books, masks, and creative landscapes. Led by Kristin McWharter, an artist and art student at MICA, Maryland Institute College of Art.

Wizards & Fairies Camp will be held the following week, 9:00-3:00:
August 6 - August 10
Cost: $245/week

Art and Science Camp for ages 5 - 10

Artists and scientists ask the same questions about the world - What is it? How does it work? How can I make it? We will lead the campers in science projects that feel like art, and art projects that involve science. Why not use old gears to make an art project? Or beautiful clay projects that actually move? Engaging, inspiring, and creative fun!

Art and Science Camp will be held the following week, 9:00-3:00:
August 20 - August 24
Cost: $245/week
